Microsoft Windows Surface

What is MS Surface. ?

  • A surface computing platform from Microsoft.
  • Project began in 2001 Introduced in 2007.
  • Combination of software & hardware.
  • We can also call it table top.

“Microsoft Surface represents a fundamental change in the way we interact with digital content. With Surface, we can actually grab data with our hands, and move it 360o, information between objects with natural gestures and touch. Surface features a 30-inch tabletop display whose unique abilities allow for several people to work independently or simultaneously. All without using a mouse or a keyboard.”

1)Screen: The Surface has an acrylic table top which a diff user makes capable of processing multiple inputs from multiple users. Objects can also be recognized by their shapes or reading.

2) Infrared: Infrared light is projected onto the underside of the diff user. Objects or fingers are visible through the diff user by series of infrared-sensitive cameras which are positioned underneath the surface of the tabletop.

3) CPU: This is similar to a regular desktop. The underlying operating system is a modified version of Microsoft Vista.

4) Projector: The Surface uses the same DLP light engine in many rear-projection tvs.

5) Cameras: 4 infrared cameras place inside the tabletop and that focus on screen and reads user interaction from four side and cover the whole screen.

Technical Specification:

Operating system: enhanced windows vista (32-bit)

Price: starting 10,000 us $ (approx 5 lakh in INR)

How Does it works:

Digital Light processing is a technology used in newer Surface devices.

It allows recognition of fingers, hands, and objects that are placed on the screen, enabling vision-based interaction. Sensors in the individual pixels in the display register what is touching the screen.

A step-by-step look at how Pixel Sense works:

* When An object is placed on the display.

* An infrared back light illuminates the object.

* Light reflected back from the object is registered by cameras.

* Values reported from all of the cameras are used to create a picture of what is

on the display.

* The picture is analyzed using image processing techniques creating a

corrected image.

* The corrected sensor image and information about the objects placed on the

display are sent to the PC.

* And then surface system react according to the user requirement.

Hadoop Technology

Introduction:-

img 5684be4821010

Hadoop is a new technology. Hadoop is an open-source software framework for storing data and running applications on clusters of commodity hardware. It provides massive storage for any kind of data, processing power and the ability to handle virtually limitless concurrent tasks or jobs.

History:-

As the World Wide Web grew in the late 1900s and early 2000s, search engines and indexes were created to help locate relevant information amid the text-based content. In the early years, search results were returned by humans. But as the web grew from millions of pages, automation was needed.

img 5684c100e7e22

Why is Hadoop important?

img 5684c10fab59a

  • Ability to store and process huge amounts of any kind of data, quickly. With data volumes and varieties constantly increasing.
  • Computing power.
  • Fault tolerance.
  • Flexibility.
  • Low cost. The open-source framework is free and uses commodity hardware to store large quantities of data.
  • Scalability. You can easily grow your system to handle more data simply by adding nodes. Little administration is required.

What are the challenges of using Hadoop?

  • MapReduce programming is not a good match for all problems.
  • There’s a widely acknowledged talent gap.
  • Data security it is also provide data security for hadoop and big data users.
  • Full-fledged data management and governance. Hadoop does not have easy-to-use, full-feature tools for data management, data cleansing, governance and metadata.

How Is Hadoop Being Used?

  • low-cost storage and data archive.

    img 5684c1529e986

  • Sandbox for discovery and analysis.
  • Data Lake.
  • Complement your data warehouse.

What is Big Data?

Introduction:

Big data is a term that describes the large volume of data ` both structured and unstructured ` that inundates a business on a day-to-day basis. But it’s not the amount of data that’s important. It’s what organizations do with the data that matters. Big data can be analyzed for insights that lead to better decisions and strategic business moves for any organizations or company.

img 5683863dc7c8b

History:

While the term “big data” is relatively new, the act of gathering and storing large amounts of information for eventual analysis is ages old. The concept gained momentum in the early 2000s when industry analyst Doug Laney articulated the now-mainstream definition of big data as the three Vs:

  1. Volume:-Organizations collect data from a variety of sources, including business transactions, social media and information from sensor or machine-to-machine data.
  2. Velocity:-Data streams in at an unprecedented speed and must be dealt with in a timely manner.
  3. Variety:-Data comes in all types of formats ` from structured, numeric data in traditional databases to unstructured text documents, email, video, audio, stock ticker data and financial transactions.

Why Big Data important?

img 56838669eafb4

The importance of big data doesn’t revolve around how much data you have, but what you do with it. You can take data from any source and analyze it to find answers that enable 1) cost reductions, 2) time reductions, 3) new product development and optimized offerings, and 4) smart decision making. When you combine big data with high-powered analytic, you can accomplish business-related tasks such as:

  • Determining root causes of failures, issues and defects in near-real time.
  • Generating coupons at the point of sale based on the customer’s buying habits.
  • Recalculating entire risk portfolios in minutes.
  • Detecting fraudulent behavior before it affects your organization

Who uses Big Data?

Today’s life we have large amount of information to gathering and storing but that doesn’t matter how much amount of data you have.

Below points shows where big data is important-

  • Education
  • Government
  • Healthcare
  • Banking
  • Manufacturing
  • Retail etc.

Google now becomes strict against android spammer

3 29 androids

Number One Search Engine Google has now introduced stricter policies for application developers & managers to stop  malicious apps on its Androidplatform.

Policy changes for apps submitted to the Google Play app store include new guidelines on app renaming, a ban on apps that disclose personal information without permission and more details on the payment policy. “We are constantly striving to make Google Play a great community for developers and consumers,” the Android team wrote in a letter to app developers.

“This requires us to update our policies when we launch new features, like subscription billing, and also when we see unhealthy behavior, like deceptive app names and spammy notifications,” the letter added. According to the Telegraph, Google’s new terms tell developers ‘not to pretend to be someone else’.

“And don’t represent that your app is authorized by or produced by another company or organization if that is not the case,” the rules say.

Developers/Programmers  are also notified that applications that introduce security vulnerabilities or ‘harm user devices’ will not be permitted.
